Jonathan Logan was a popular manufacturer of women’s classic dresses, starting up business in 1944. The label enjoyed immediate appeal and by the 1950s, it became an essential component of just about every young woman's closet. In fact, by 1966, Jonathan Logan had become one of the largest 'ready to wear' companies operating in the USA.
Jonathan Logan eventually became a collection of fourteen different brands, each geared to a different consumer group. What do these vintage labels have in common: Betty Barclay, Butte Knit, R & K Originals, Youth Guild and Jonathan Logan? At one time, all of these labels were popular divisions of the first large apparel conglomerate: Jonathan Logan. These labels were on some of the most popular dresses and sportswear from the 1950’s through to the 1970’s, Today, vintage collectors seek out these labels for both their style and quality.
Comment
This dress is in great condition for its age. The colours are vibrant and the fabric is strong. There is a slight amount of underarm dusting, but really not noticeable when worn. One petal has the palest amount of bleed but again absolutely nothing to detract. The dress is washed and cleaned ready for wear. Pictured with a crinoline for demonstration purposes only.
