* Late 1950s floral silk brocade dress with metallic gold lame thread
* Fabric design features painterly flowers in various shades of blue and green
* Classic silhouette with a fitted waist and full skirt
* Dress bodice with short sleeves and deep V-neckline
* Bodice front is high-waisted and dips at back
* Underbust is decorated with a self-fabric bow and button
* Skirt is tulip-shaped and gathered
* Back with metal zipper
* Bodice fully lined, skirt partially lined, raw seams with un-finished hem
* Dress construction of a high standard
* Label reads Edward Abbott
Edward Abbott was a higher-end clothing business for which noted designer Wilson Folmar was head designer from 1957 to 1964. Folmar's chief interest was in producing striking cocktail dresses and formal gowns. He also designed for several other manufacturers before setting up his own label in 1967. The Edward Abbot label was aimed at the higher price range of the average American woman, but with an emphasis on glamour and allure. It was advertised as American couture (on the same level as Harvey Berin). The label was particularly recognised for its use of exotic fabrics, revealing tops and unusual shaped skirts.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition.
No notable flaws that I can see, it is in great condition for its age.

The structure ane fabric on this masterpiece are simply superb. It is really the kind of outfit you would see modelled on a catwalk. Simply gorgeous!

Currently, standard packages within Australia take 4 to 6 business days from receipt of the package at the Post Office. However, there may be exceptions due to the impact of COVID-19. Overseas packages take between 7 to 10 days.
We also offer expedited DHL shipping which provides a fast and reliable shipping option if you prefer quick receipt of your item.
Availability
This item is within our selling stock. In the unlikely event that two buyers purchase this item concurrently, payment will be immediately refunded to the latter purchaser. We apologize in advance should this rare circumstance arise.
LayBys/Layaways

Obviously, as these are one-off pieces, the fit may not be quite what you need. To this end, we also offer an alteration service by professional seamstresses. Please shoot us an email outlining what you want and we will quickly respond with a quote and timeframe. Costs are kept to a minimum for this service.
