Description
* 1940s navy wool knit dress set commercially made
* Classic silhouette with a defined waist and straight skirt
* Top with batwing sleeves and ribbing at waist and sleeve cuffs
* Turnover collar at neckline
* Patterned knit to top
* Top fastens with three brass buttons at the back neckline
* Skirt has a waistband with plenty of stretch
* Narrow ribbing at hem
* Pattern to the skirt is more streamlined than the top for a slimming effect
* Label reads A Helen Harper Original
Helen Harper Original label appears to have been active from the 1930s through to the 1990s. Although they manufactured sportswear and separates in denim, cotton, and other fabrics, it was their knit products that set them apart. The quality of their products saw them published in high fashion magazines throughout the 1940s to 1960s including Harpers Bazaar, Vogue and Mademoiselle, as well as Life. They also advertised in a plethora of newspapers throughout the USA. The label guaranteed their products were made 'of the finest materials manufactured under the most exacting standards foremost in the world of women 's fashions'. During the 1950s, top model and actress, Suzie Parker, made a series od advertisements for this clothing line.
Condition
Excellent vintage condition.
No notable flaws that I can see. Plenty of stretch to the knit.

Currently, standard packages within Australia take 4 to 6 business days from receipt of the package at the Post Office. However, there may be exceptions due to the impact of COVID-19. Overseas packages take between 7 to 10 days.
We also offer expedited DHL shipping which provides a fast and reliable shipping option if you prefer quick receipt of your item.
Availability

LayBys/Layaways

Obviously, as these are one-off pieces, the fit may not be quite what you need. To this end, we also offer an alteration service by professional seamstresses. Please shoot us an email outlining what you want and we will quickly respond with a quote and timeframe. Costs are kept to a minimum for this service.
