Chessa Davis was a highly-creative designer operating out of Beverly Hills during the 1970s. She was particularly famous for her peasant skirts that were pieced together from fabric odds and ends and then embellished. These comfortable and adjustable skirts were sought-after by the rich and famous of Los Angeles. Princess Grace of Monaco, Dinah Shore and Mary Tyler Moore were all fans of her romantic, feminine and highly flattering designs. Prior to setting up her label, Chessa's enjoyed a long career in the movies. She was initially discovered at the age of 12 by Charles Laughton and subsequently appeared in many films and hundreds of television shows. Her transition into fashion was as a result of her wearing one of her own design to a party, whereupon a Beverly Hills shop owner order six on the spot. Of course, these sold out immediately. From there on, her reputation grew exponentially and thousands were sold worldwide.
